"I don't even recognize myself anymore, I feel like somewhere along the way, I lost myself in this marriage". She confessed, staring absent-mindedly into her untouched cappuccino. She'd been married for over a decade.
Her brutally honest friend didn't even flinch.
"No, sweetie," she said gently. "You didn't lose yourself in marriage. Maybe you were so busy preparing to become a wife that you never really got the chance to know yourself first. Let's start there."
We spend so much of our lives preparing to become wives that we rarely stop to ask what kind of women we're becoming in the process. We know the colour palette for the wedding before we know our own values. We imagine the surname we hope to carry before we've built an identity that's entirely our own.
We dream about sharing a life with someone else before we've learned how to be at home with ourselves. And perhaps that's why so many women wake up ten years into marriage convinced they've lost themselves.
But here's the uncomfortable question...
Can you lose something you never intentionally took the time to find? Knowing yourself isn't a luxury my love. It's one of the greatest gifts you can give your future marriage.
Because marriage has a way of magnifying who you already are. If you walk into it unsure of your identity, your boundaries, your convictions, marriage doesn't magically create those things.
It simply shines a brighter light on their absence.
That's exactly why I created the Elite Wife Becoming Journal.
Because the greatest preparation you can make for marriage isn't learning how to live with a husband. It's You. You are the starting point.
The journal opens with these four conversations designed to help you become deeply rooted in who you are before you ever become somebody's wife:
The Waiting Season
Your life isn't on hold until someone proposes. The waiting season isn't a delay; it's where much of your becoming happens.
Me Before We
Before building a "we," make sure you've spent time building "me." Know your values, your convictions and your identity before inviting someone else into your life.
Baggage Claim
Marriage shouldn't become the storage room for unhealed wounds. Deal with personal baggage (traumas, unhealthy attachment styles, insecurities etc) first so you don't carry them into your marriage.
I Do, But First
Marriage is more than love. In this section we unpack your communication styles, conflict styles, financial habits, your expectations and more.
These are just four of the sixteen conversations inside the Elite Wife Becoming Journal. If you're ready to stop merely dreaming about marriage and start intentionally preparing for it, I'd recommend for you to reserve your copy here.
If you're still not yet convinced, that's perfectly okay sweetie. This was only Phase One.
There are three more phases to explore, each offering another glimpse into the conversations inside the Journal. Read them first. Get a feel for the journal. Decide whether it speaks to the kind of wife you're becoming.
If by the end of all four phases, you still don't feel excited about getting your hands on this journal, well... I'll be genuinely surprised.
But between you and me? I have a feeling you won't make it that far without wanting to reserve your copy. Just know my love that your reservation spot is waiting for you here whenever you're ready.
